If you’re seeing that you’re not in an official city, it’s usually due to how city boundaries are defined.

Some cities have irregular or nonobvious official limits. In real life, it may feel like you’re inside a city, but according to official boundary data, you may actually be outside the area recognized as that city. Atlas Earth uses these official boundaries, so some parcels may not be assigned to the city you expect.

In addition, some smaller towns or communities may not be recognized as cities within the game. These areas won’t have a mayor or a city badge available.
